Storytelling therapy can be a great help during various difficulties or blockages. It communicates through images and symbols, helping us connect with our own resources and restore disrupted balance.
How can working with stories help?
A story preserves the experiences and knowledge of people who lived before us, so we can find a story for every life situation. Although the world changes, the challenges, experiences, and themes we face remain largely the same as in the past. Stories speak to us through ancient images and symbols, engaging our subconscious and analogical thinking, which is why they can have such a profound effect. Children use this type of “vertical” thinking more often, but as they start school, rational, “horizontal” thinking takes precedence, and this ability becomes less prominent. An image is more primal than language. While language emphasizes sequence, images represent simultaneity, presenting all information at once.
How can it heal?
It is not the story itself that heals, but the connection with the story and internalizing the images within it. For example: can we summon the courage of a lion when facing fear? Can we build new wings for ourselves when stuck in a situation? Can we lift the sky when feeling constrained to regain expansiveness?
In storytelling therapy, we choose a story that matches the child’s current life situation. This allows the child to look at their challenge from an external perspective. Stories provide concrete solutions for what needs to be done in a given situation and show what tools and resources are needed to overcome the difficulty. By engaging multiple senses, along with movement and creative activities, the solutions offered by the story become more tangible, supporting their integration.
Areas where storytelling therapy has proven effective:
- Treating anxiety disorders (e.g., separation anxiety, new or unfamiliar situations, before hospital visits, etc.)
- Processing experiences of loss (e.g., divorce, loss of a pet, etc.)
- Managing tensions related to a new sibling
- Managing anger and aggression

Individual Storytelling Therapy for Children (minimum 8 sessions)

The first two sessions after the parental consultation focus on getting to know each other and building trust, using playful story-related tasks. From the third session, we start focusing on a story that aligns with the child’s current challenge or area of development, offering solutions, behavioral patterns, and connections to inner resources.
The first parental consultation is free!
Please note: the individual storytelling therapy I provide is not psychotherapy and does not replace medical treatment.

Individual Emotional Intelligence Development Program through Stories (14 sessions)

In this program, we explore basic emotions (joy, sadness, anger, fear, surprise, disgust). Each emotion is introduced through a story and accompanied by a creative activity to deepen understanding. The program aims to help children recognize and identify their emotions, which is the first step in effectively managing them. Children also learn how to observe and express their emotions. This is especially important for social connections and supports the development of a positive self-image.
